Join Kristy Manuel, a certified Yoga Therapist for a discussion on the new pain science and how some very simple yoga tools may be able to help you assist your clients who suffer from chronic pain. Chronic pain can have a significant impact on quality of life. Chronic pain is the most common reason people go to the doctor, affecting more people than diabetes, heart disease, and cancer combined! Chronic pain can have serious consequences Including depression, sleep disturbances, fatigue, emotional stress, and the treatment often leaves people with no permanent relief. Explore the neurobiology of pain and how pain and the perception of pain affects the various systems of the body such as the brain, the neuroendocrine system, and the body tissues, and how simple yoga therapy practices can be powerful tools to help alleviate suffering for those who are afflicted with chronic pain. The new pain science tells us that we have the power to shift how we are perceiving messages from the body and that pain isn’t necessarily coming from something structural.
