Karli Burridge, MMS, PA-C, FOMA is a nationally recognized expert in obesity medicine and she is passionate about educating other professionals on obesity management so they can help individuals affected by obesity and metabolic disease.
She is comprehensively trained in medical obesity treatment, as well as in metabolic and bariatric surgery, and has a background in psychology and exercise physiology. Karli holds the Certificate of Advanced Education in Obesity Management and is a Fellow of the Obesity Medicine Association.
Karli is a co-author of the Obesity Algorithm® and currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Illinois Obesity Society. She has served as the Chair for the PA/NP Committee for the Obesity Medicine Association and is currently the President of PAs in Obesity Medicine.
She has worked on numerous projects with a variety of medical organizations and has helped PA programs such as the Yale PA program develop educational modules on obesity.
Karli has received multiple awards from the Obesity Medicine Association for her work in expanding the field of obesity medicine and in furthering obesity education for health care providers, including the 2017 Committee Leadership Award, the 2018 Dr. Vernon B. Astler Award, and the 2020 Dr. Raymond E. Ditz Meritorious Service Award.
Karli is the founder and owner of Gaining Health, which is a company she developed to support health care providers who want to incorporate obesity medicine into practice, as well as providing education and support for people who are impacted by obesity.
Karli holds a Masters of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies, and has completed Masters Courses with focus in Clinical Exercise Physiology.
